After a 12-hour stand-off in a north-east home... Calgary police have arrested a man wanted in connection with a high speed chase with Red Deer R-C-M-P.
A man holed himself inside the home around six o'clock last night until around 6:30 this morning when police used what they're calling a "tactical move" to get the man to surrender.

Police are investing a stabbing death that happened in downtown Calgary last night. E-M-S responded to a report of a stabbing at 6:30 last night on the corner of 7th avenue and third street south-east. When they arrived, E-M-S found a man in his 30's with a chest wound. The man died on the way to hospital.

A fire broke out at "Hoooters" restaurant in north-east Calgary at around 5:30 this morning. When fire crews arrived they discovered a grease fire in the kitchen. There is no damage estimate yet.

There was another fire overnight. Careless smoking is being blamed for a house fire that broke out at approximately 2:15 this morning in Country Hills. Seven family members were in the house at the time of the fire, but were awakened by smoke detectors and escaped without injury. Damage is estimated at around four-hundred thousand dollars.

The investigation continues into a drug bust gone bad in Winnipeg. Three police were shot and one suspect was taken to hospital. Steve Lambert has the details. CLIP (34 secs...bn Winnipeg)

The holiday season is upon us and many people are using their bank or credits cards for Christmas shopping. Kathy Deher from the Red Deer R-C-M-P department says there are some things you can do to prevent identity theft during the holiday season. CLIP (21 secs ...theft)
Deher also says checking your bank statements frequently to ensure all the transactions are yours is important. If they're not, contact your bank immediately.
